Analysis of Reeboks poster
The Reeboks poster on the right shows us a good strong
central image of 50 Cent. It is shown as a medium close-up which suggests that
the focus point is only on his face and that the rest of his body does not
matter. It also shows the facial expressions on his face which is shown as very
serious and stern, which tells us that he knows what he’s doing. Furthermore, the
fingerprint in the background shows us his identity and connotes violence,
danger, criminal behaviour and prison. This could have been used to show the target
market that 50 Cent had a distressing past. However, the producers of the advert doesn't want to show us this and show it is an oppositional reading. Moreover, 50 cents army hat links to the quote
‘I am what I am’ as it shows us that he takes control of his own life. The
colour scheme which is black and white makes the mood really serious as its
really dull and olden day- like. In addition, the there isn’t much lighting on
his face, a lot of shadowing has been used which suggests he’s trying to hide
his identity and past.
