Audience focus group

1) The focus group involved a handful of students from my media class. Each group had to present their ideas in detail to the rest of us which we had to evaluate and see whether us teens would be interested in watching their production., they also had to tell us if our production was good and if it met the needs of what the channel E4 are looking for. We also had to record the feedback of what the teacher and class pupils were given us so we can reflect back on it and improve our production. Our production is about a 14 year old boy whose mothers has fallen and is diagnosed with cancer. They come from a poor background and are in need of money to treat the cancer. The main protagonist gets involved with a group of gangsters who sell drugs for money. The gangsters begin to fully trust Ayden. The head of them (Elijah) takes Ayden on a job with him in his car. During the process Ayden starts to touch Elijahs leg which causes conflict between them and in the end the gangsters beat him up.

2) "You should not film it at night as it is too dangerous"
"The should be enough lighting for us to see the characters face"
"How will you portray it in two minutes?"
"What if the characters you have do not want to be gay?"
"You need to include the mother in your video, because it looks like you have forgotten about her"
"May be hard to execute"
"You can ask the drama department for characters"
"Overall it has a good concept"

3) We learnt that the mother character needs to be in the video a lot more as it looks as if we've forgotten about her, if we only use her in the beginning of our production. Also, the concept is a good idea but it can either turn out really good or really bad and so we need to consider making the video a good production. From this i can suggest that our production will turn out to look more realistic, which will keep the audience intrigued. Moreover, the group said we cannot fit it all in the two minutes and so we will cut the bits out that aren't necessary. In addition, we have found a person that will be the protagonist (gay) and so that's a problem that is solved. We decided not to do it in the dark as it is too dangerous and so we have enough light during the day to see the characters clearly.

4) The target audience for our media production is aimed at mostly teenage  males in the psycho-graphic group of struggler's. This is due to the fact that the whole production is based around people with poor backgrounds. Also, it can be aimed at females as we have used a couple of female gangsters in our production so its not fully male based. In addition, in the demographic social class classification, we have aimed it at individuals in group D as they are semi-skilled and unskilled manual workers which fits the characters in our production. Its not aimed at people in group E as they have no job whatsoever and have no skill. The characters in our production do have a  couple of skills
